Baykar Makina Launches 'Kemankes' Mini Cruise Missile – Designed to Complement Weapons in the Bayraktar Series Drones

Baykar Makina is considered a lucky weapons manufacturer, apart from having a product that is selling well in the market (Bayraktar TB2 combat drone), the Turkish manufacturer also has new hopes for the next combat drone design, such as the Bayraktar TB3 and Bayraktar Akinci. Apart from that, Baykar Makina is also serious about developing weapon systems to complement the drones being marketed.

Like the latest, Baykar Makina has officially demonstrated the new development of a mini cruise missile labeled Bayraktar Kemankes. Appearance Photos and videos of Bayraktar Kemankes uploaded on Baykar's Twitter account, the presentation of the new missile took place at the Teknofest exhibition.

Baykar Makina released the Kemankes cruise missile to be compatible with the Bayraktar TB2 drone.
The manufacturer also refers to this development as “digital barrage ammunition.” At present, it is known that the Bayraktar Kemankes is designed to arm three drones, namely the Bayraktar TB2, TB3 and Akinci. As at the Teknofest exhibition, this missile was demonstrated under the wing of the Bayraktar TB2 drone.

Baykar Makina said that the presence of the Kemankes missile would be in demand by Bayraktar TB2 operators, because this missile is very precise for attacking land targets and even behind the opponent's defense lines.

The Bayraktar Kemankes is said to have a cruising range of 200 km, which allows it not only to "attack far", but also to choose a relatively safe distance to reduce the risk of being hit by enemy missiles.

From the specifications, the Bayraktar Kemankes cruise missile has fairly modest dimensions, namely 1.73 meters in length, 1.25 meters in wingspan and weighs 35 kg, where the combat part weighs 6 kg.

For comparison, the Turkish-made cruise missile, the SOM mounted on the Akinci Bayraktar drone, has a range of 250 km. In different versions it can weigh from 500 to 620 kg, where the warhead is up to 230 kg.

Bayraktar Kemankes can reach a speed of Mach 0.3 (about 367.5 km per hour), cruising speed of Mach 0.7 (about 857.5 km/hour). While the operating altitude is around 5486 merer with endurance in the air for 60 minutes. The missile is reportedly powered by a liquid-fuel jet engine.

Bayraktar Kemankes with a range of more than 200 km and the communication range is limited to 50 km, which is planned to be increased to 100 km.

Information about the missile's altitude, temperature and target, as well as all the images from the cameras are transmitted to the TB2 drone and then to the Ground Control Station. The missile can target targets using an optical guidance system with artificial intelligence features that help process images.

This missile can be used in operating conditions exposed to enemy jamming. For the next stage, Bayraktar Kemankes will start the initial launch test in the next 1-2 months. While the production plan is scheduled for the end of the year.
