'Iranian Military Factory In Isfahan Produces Hypersonic Missiles'

Although there has been no official confirmation, reports are circulating that Mossad, the Israeli Intelligence Service, is the party involved in the Kamikaze quadcopter drone attack on Iranian military factory facilities in the city of Isfahan, on Saturday night, January 29. And a day later, there was an interesting comment from the former head of the Mossad, Danny Yatom.

Quoted from Anadolu Agency (30/1/2023), Former Head of Israel's Mossad Intelligence Service, Danny Yatom, said that an Iranian military facility that was attacked by drones had been producing hypersonic missiles.

Speaking to Israeli Army radio, Yatom said the facility had been used to develop hypersonic missiles. He argued that the missile was fast enough that advanced air defense systems might find it extremely difficult to intercept it.

So far, the Israeli government has refused to comment on the attack on the Iranian military factory in Isfahan. On Sunday, an unnamed US official denied US involvement in the drone strike. Yedioth Ahronoth daily, citing another unnamed US official, said Israel was behind the attack.

There have been a number of sabotage attacks on military facilities and nuclear plants in Iran in recent years, and Tehran has blamed its regional arch-foe, Israel. One of the main targets is the Natanz nuclear plant, which is located about 120 kilometers (75 miles) north of Isfahan.

The drone attack on a military factory in the central city of Isfahan, comes just a day after Israel's ambassador to Germany, Ron Prosor, suggested that Israel is doing more to help Ukraine than is publicly known.

There are a number of sites linked to Iran's missile and drone programs near Isfahan. Iran Aircraft Manufacturing Industries (HESA) for example, has production facilities in Shahin Shahr. On May 23, 2021, an explosion struck the compound just days after Israel said Iran was supplying drones to Hamas in Gaza.

Ukraine, which has been battered by Russia using hundreds of Shahed-136 kamikaze drones supplied by Iran since August, welcomed Saturday night's attack on the city of Isfahan.
