Robomarine CSV – Reconnaissance And Infiltration Vehicle For The Frog Squad Command

Participating in the outdoor display at Indo Defense 2022, this hybrid assault vehicle for the Frog Troop Command (Kopaska) seems to have gone unnoticed. This is CSV - Combat Swimmer Vehicle produced by PT Robomarine Indonesia (RMI), a company from Bandung which was previously known for creating the "Red Shark", a marine ROV (Remotely Operated Vehicle) robot ordered by the Defense Ministry's R&D.

Combat swimmer type vehicles with hybrid capabilities, namely being able to drive above and below the surface of the water, are no strangers to elite units like Kopaska, one of which is the SEAL Carrier made in Sweden which has been in the Kopaska arsenal for quite some time.

While what is offered from CSV Robomarine, is likely to be small and light in dimensions, so that it has advantages in maneuverability and mobility.

In the current brochure for Indo Defense 2022, it is stated that the Combat Swimmer Vehicle is a tactical vehicle developed to increase the ability of Indonesian Navy combat divers to carry out infiltration and reconnaissance of enemy territory.

There are three modes of operation that this CSV can perform. The first is surface mode – the CSV operates on the surface of the water, operating like a surface ship, so the crew does not need to use diving equipment. The second is semi-dive mode - CSV only appears slightly above the water surface to reduce the possibility of enemy detection, in this mode the crew does not need to use diving equipment.

The third dive mode – CSV full dive so that visibility on the surface of the water is zero, in this mode the crew wears scuba gear.

CSV is made of glass fiber reinforced composite material. Powered by a 25A 100-240V battery, the CSV is supported by 2x vertical electric DC thrusters, each producing 2 hp of power, and 2x horizontal steering DC thrusters, each producing 8 hp of power. This vehicle can travel a maximum of 5 knots while on the surface, and when diving it can reach a maximum speed of up to 3 knots.

From the specifications, this domestically designed CSV is manned by one pilot and can tow two divers. CSV has an empty weight of 200 kg and can dive to a depth of 20 meters. CSV can sail for 200 minutes at a speed of 2.5 knots.
