Born To Fly, 'Top Gun' Made In China That Shows Propaganda Of The Power Of The Chinese Air Force Through The Chengdu J-20 Stealth Fighter Jet

Top Gun Fever: Maverick, it seems China is not wasting it. This momentum, apart from countering, was also used to create propaganda as well as promote the Chengdu J-20 stealth fighter jet, through a similar film; Born To Fly.

The aircraft, which is a rival to the United States Air Force's (USAF) F-22 Raptor, is only known to be effective in mass production at the end of last year or early this year. In the trailer uploaded on the China Forces YouTube account, it clearly shows the Chengdu J-20 stealth fighter jet.

The Global Times revealed that the film Born To Fly or the film Top Gun Maveric Made in China will tell an inspiring and interesting story about the struggles of Chinese scientists, engineers, and military in realizing the dream of making their own fighter jets, amidst technological embargoes by Western countries. and Japan under the Coordinating Committee for Multilateral Export Control (COCOM) and Wassenaar Arrangement.

The film will also show the strength and speed of the Chengdu J-20 stealth fighter jet. Through this speed, a special group of test pilots of the Chinese Liberation Army Air Force (PLA) became increasingly challenged to improve their capabilities.

The narrative in this film focuses more on the character of Wang Lei Yu, a pilot who has just joined a special team or group of test pilots. Yu's struggle to join was certainly not easy, but he had to go through various very tough tests, including physical and psychological tests in the midst of extreme hot and cold weather.

It did not stop there, after entering, Yu was faced with a formidable and proud challenge, namely to test the Chengdu J-20 stealth fighter jet, and succeeded.

In addition to featuring the Chengdu J-20 Stealth as the main 'actor', the J-16 and J-10C were also featured in the propaganda and promotional film Born To Fly.

Considering this should be a successful film, at least as a government promotional medium, China appointed Liu Xiaoshi as director. The appointment is certainly not without basis. He is known to have often made films or promotional videos for the Chinese army.

Liu, who graduated from the Beijing Film Academy, has produced many promotional videos, such as the promotional video for Lioning, China's first aircraft carrier and Yun-20, the transport plane (Kunpeng). He also has experience making cross-border videos, including promotional videos for the Pakistani and Egyptian air forces.

Born To Fly

According to the Eurasian Times report, currently a timsus (special operations team) led by a senior Chinese pilot is said to have received directions from top Chinese Air Force officials to complete a challenging flight mission as one of the scenes in the film.

Unfortunately, amid rumors of Chinese bravery featuring the original J-20 Stealth in the film, photos circulated on social media in which a scene featuring the J-20 came from the green screen. This is certainly against the public's expectations that this film can match or even exceed the quality of Hollywood films, in this case Top Gun Maverick.

Until now there is no definite date when the film will be released. However, this leak will be released at the end of 2022.
