Ukraine to NATO: We Ask for Arms, Arms and Arms

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba on Thursday (7/4) asked NATO members to provide all the weapons Kyiv needs to fight Russia.

"My agenda is very simple. There are only three items in it. Weapons, weapons and weapons," Kuleba told reporters ahead of a meeting with NATO foreign ministers in Brussels, Belgium.

"I call on all allies to put aside their doubts, their reluctance, to provide all that Ukraine needs," he said, as quoted by Channel News Asia.

Ukraine is pushing the West to increase its supply of weapons with heavier weaponry, including air defense systems, artillery, tanks and fighter jets, as Moscow refocuses its offensive on eastern Ukraine.

Kuleba said Germany's economic powerhouse "could have done more" when he criticized the panzer nation for remaining reluctant to send what he called "offensive" weapons.

"This distinction between defensive and offensive makes no sense when it comes to the situation in my country," said Kuleba.

"Countries that say we will provide Ukraine with defensive weapons, but we are not in a position to provide them with offensive weapons. They are hypocrites, this is an unfair, unjustified approach," he stressed.

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg believes the allies will "address the need for more air defense systems, anti-tank weapons, lighter but also heavier weapons and various types of support for Ukraine".

German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock said Berlin was "looking closely with our partners how we can support Ukraine in the future, more intensively and more coordinated because they have the right to defend themselves".
