Yemen's Armed Forces have announced that they are stepping up military readiness in response to foreign aggression. They also revealed a series of recent successful attacks targeting US military assets, including aircraft carriers.

In a statement released Tuesday, Yemen’s forces said their capabilities had significantly improved, marking a key moment in their ongoing defense efforts.

“The Armed Forces now hold a stronger military position than just weeks ago,” the statement said.

They credited recent technological advancements for helping their forces disrupt enemy operations and prevent several attacks.

Yemen’s military detailed recent retaliatory strikes on US naval forces in the Red Sea and Arabian Sea. These included hits on the USS Harry S. Truman and USS Carl Vinson, as well as supporting warships. These operations reportedly used a combination of cruise missiles and drones.

Yemeni forces have been launching similar attacks since March. That was when US President Donald Trump threatened to use overwhelming military force to stop Yemen’s pro-Palestinian strikes, which have targeted Israeli-linked assets.

Another US Drone Shot Down

In a separate incident, Yemen’s air defenses shot down a US MQ-9 Reaper drone. According to the statement, the drone was conducting surveillance in Yemen’s northwestern Hajjah province before being destroyed by a surface-to-air missile.

This marks the seventh such US drone Yemen has taken down in April, each costing an estimated $30 million.

It was also the 22nd drone downed as part of what Yemen calls the “Promised Victory and Holy Jihad,” referring to their support for Palestinians in Gaza.

Support for Palestine Reaffirmed

The Yemeni Armed Forces once again declared their strong support for the Palestinian people and their struggle against Israeli occupation and aggression.

“Our defense missions are not just for Yemen,” the statement said, “but also to support the Palestinians. We stand with the Palestinian fighters and will continue until the attacks on Gaza end.”

The statement added that Yemen’s pro-Palestinian actions would go on as long as Israel continues its siege and war on the Gaza Strip.
