Former President Donald Trump’s official online store is now selling merchandise featuring the slogan “Trump 2028” — despite the fact that the U.S. Constitution bars him from running for a third term.
The new line includes red hats, priced at $50, and T-shirts in navy and red for $36. One design carries the bold tagline “Trump 2028 (Rewrite the Rules).” The merchandise appears to nod toward the next presidential election year, even though Trump, now 78, is constitutionally prohibited from serving again after two terms.
A social media account affiliated with Trump posted a photo Thursday of his son Eric Trump wearing the new cap, accompanied by the slogan: “Make a statement with this Made in America Trump 2028 hat.”
The timing of the product launch comes as Trump nears the 100-day mark of his second term and faces declining approval ratings. Recent polls show growing public dissatisfaction with his approach to economic issues, including the rising cost of living and his unpredictable tariff strategies.
Despite the 22nd Amendment’s clear restriction — “No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice” — Trump has openly suggested he isn’t joking about seeking a third term. In a recent statement, he claimed there are “methods” that could make it possible.
However, any attempt to change the Constitution would face enormous hurdles. Such a move would require a two-thirds vote in both the House and Senate, along with ratification by three-fourths of the U.S. states — a scenario legal experts widely view as improbable.
