Panthera T6 4×4 – Armored Rantis With Toyota Land Cruiser Chassis, Looking for Opportunities in Ukrainian Fields

At first glance from the display, there is nothing special about this one armored rifle. However, the Panthera T6 4x4 Armored Personnel Carrier (APC) produced by Minerva Special Purpose Vehicles (MSPV) LLC, based in the United Arab Emirates, has attracted attention after photos circulating on social media showing several Panthera T6 units have arrived at Ukraine.

A photo posted on the Twitter account “Ukraine Weapons Tracker” on December 28, 2022, mentions several Panthera T6 4x4s transported in trailer trucks that have arrived in Ukraine. It was not explained which party or country supplied the rantis to Ukraine. Even though it is a UAE production, it is not certain that the Panthera T6 4×4 will be purchased by the UAE government.

The name Panthera T6 4×4 sounds foreign, the design of the Panthera T6 4×4 is based on the Toyota Land Cruiser 79 series 4×4 civilian vehicle chassis which offers high mobility in urban and off-road conditions. The Rantis is designed to be used for patrol and border missions and can also be configured as an APC.

The design of the Panthera T6 4×4 adopts a conventional model with the engine at the front, the crew at the front of the hull, and the troop compartment at the rear. The crew of this rantis consists of one driver and commander, and in the rear of the vehicle can accommodate up to six troops with room for mission equipment.

The Panthera T6 4×4 is available in a variety of configurations, and the vehicle hull can provide protection against assault rifle fire at CEN1063/1522 BR6/FB6 or BR7/FB7 levels, and from explosions of two DM51 hand grenades under the floor.

The Panthera T6 4×4 hull design is modular, the interior is spacious and equipped with dual air conditioning. Two ballistic glass windows with safety netting are provided on either side of the troop compartment to offer good visibility. Passengers can enter or exit the vehicle through the two rear doors. The crew cab has two side doors with bulletproof glass windows.

In addition, the vehicle can be equipped with a variety of equipment including roof racks, jerry can holders, shovels, crane bars, roof hatches and toolboxes.

The roof of the vehicle can be equipped with an open roof cupola with one gunner operating one 7.62 mm machine gun or 12.7 mm heavy machine gun.

The Panthera T6 4x4 can be equipped with a variety of sensors including C4ISR communications equipment, electronic countermeasures equipment, surveillance and monitoring systems, and other special mission systems. The vehicle also has a rear view camera, which provides a better view behind the vehicle.

The Panthera T6 4×4 is supported by a 4.0L V6 petrol engine with a 4×4 manual transmission and five speed levels. Even so, the Panthera T6 can optionally be paired with a 4.2L turbocharged diesel engine.

The vehicle's gross weight is approximately 3,200 kg and 2,065 kg empty. The vehicle can travel at a maximum speed of around 165 km per hour.
