Kronos – The 'Armored' Submarine Claimed to Be Able to Go 50 Km Per Hour Below The Surface

The design of this submarine is so futuristic like the one in a sci-fi movie. This is what is known as the Kronos, a mini-submarine designed by Highland Systems. Called futuristic, because Kronos combines the design of a spaceship and a model of a giant manta ray.

With its fairly haunted appearance, Kronos is predicted to be an armored submarine for special tasks. Quoted from highlandsystems.me, Kronos was designed by engineers from Ukraine who are now members of Highland Systems, a ship design company based in the UK and the United Arab Emirates.

Kronos is designed for a mix of commercial, military, including rescue operations. And from the look of the mostly windowless interior, it seems that Kronos wasn't designed for tourism or luxury.

By design, Kronos has a length of more than 9 meters and weighs about 10 tons. The Kronos adopts my 'fat' design which folds up, allowing it to tow onto the trailer for mobility.

Kronos can accommodate 10 passengers and two crew. Highland Systems says the Kronos is powered by a hybrid powertrain that combines a diesel generator with a 1,200 hp, 2,400-Nm electric motor that powers a waterjet propulsion system.

Kronos is said to be able to dive to a working depth of 100 meters, or a maximum critical depth of 250 meters. Meanwhile, air supply can be available for 36 hours.

What makes it shake is the speed of Kronos, above the surface, Kronos can go up to 80 km per hour and under water it reaches 50 km per hour. The Kronos can carry enough battery to run 36 hours of electricity, or you can power a diesel generator for an additional 18 hours of operation, for a total range of up to 54 autonomous hours.

For armament, Highland Systems has prepared a place at the front for the installation of light torpedoes. So far it is not known when the Kronos prototype will be released.
