The latest Russian MBT T-90M was Destroyed by Carl Gustaf, a type of anti-tank Weapon also used by the Indonesian Army

War often involves emotions, including the emotion of deploying the latest and most sophisticated weapons to be deployed on the battlefield. The involvement of new types of weapons, which incidentally has a high marketing opportunity, certainly invites risks.

If moncer is used to face opponents, then the image obtained is battle proven, while otherwise, it can have a negative impact on export prospects. For this reason, the involvement of the new defense equipment system requires careful calculations.

Recently, a video circulated about the destruction of Russia's newest Main Battle Tank (MBT), the T-90M, due to the shock of an anti-tank weapon in the battle for Stary Saltiv north of Kharkiv. The claim in the form of video footage released by the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense Twitter states that the Russian T-90M was destroyed by a Carl Gustaf anti-tank rocket which Ukraine acknowledged was supplied by Sweden.

An attack capable of crippling the T-90M clearly harms the image of Russian defense equipment products. The dailymail.co.uk site provides a comparison, that the price of a T-90M unit reaches £ 4 million, while the price of the Carl Gustaf anti-tank rocket is estimated at only £ 18 thousand.

The T-90M is an enhanced variant of the T-90 MBT, this tank was first introduced to the public in 2017 and is labeled “Proryv-3 or (Breakthrough-3).” Some of the new features that complement the T-90M include a more modern turret defense technology, a more powerful engine to a multichannel day/night sighting system.

Not only that, Kisel said that the T-90M has been equipped with sharing combat information that can share information and data with other ranpurs in real time.

The T-90M MBT has an empty weight of 46.5 tons and has been equipped with improved armor protection from the Relikt built-in Explosive Reactive Armor (ERA) type as a replacement for the Kontakt-5 type protection.

The new protection in the T-90M provides protection against the Tandem HEAT warhead and significantly reduces penetration of APFSDS (Armour-piercing fin-stabilized discarding sabot) munitions.

Designed by the Russian Company Uralvagonzavod, the T-90M is protected by rubber side skirts with built-in armor plates. In some areas the main tank is also equipped with cage armor and special nets to increase protection against anti-tank weapon attacks. Not to forget, the T-90M is equipped with an anti-nubika protection system for its crew and automatic fire suppression systems to prevent fires.

The main weapon of the T-90M is the 125 mm 2A46M-4 gun, which has better range and is 15-20 percent more accurate than the 2A46M gun used on the T-90. The munitions that can be fired are APFSDS, HE and HE-FRAG.

While Carl Gustaf, is a legendary anti-tank weapon made in Sweden's Saab. Traced from its classification, Carl Gustaf is included as a reusable anti-tank weapon, meaning that this weapon can be used repeatedly, aka the launcher can be reloaded with bullets/projectiles.

Carl Gustaf is a type of recoilless rifle whose name has been worldwide since 1948. Through changes in four variants, until now Carl Gustaf is still a mainstay in many battles, and Indonesia has long used Carl Gustaf.
