Ukraine: Heat Phase of War will End in Next 2 Weeks

Fyodor Venislavsky, a member of the Ukrainian National Security, Defense and Intelligence Committee, said the hot phase of the war in Ukraine would end in the next two to three weeks.

"The conflict really ends in the next two to three months," he said, Sunday (17/4), as quoted by Al Jazeera.

According to Venislavsky, his assessment was based on a number of factors, including that the Ukrainian Armed Forces "have shown how to push the enemy back from Ukrainian soil".

And "Western partners have not only changed their assessment that Ukraine urgently needs more new models of weapons, they are already delivering them," he said.

Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said the remaining Ukrainian troops in the city of Mariupol were still fighting and continued to reject Russia's demands to surrender.

"The city still hasn't fallen," Shmyhal told ABC's This Week program.

Only, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, at least 18 people were killed and more than 100 injured in Russian attacks in the past four days in the city of Kharkiv.

Zelenskyy said in his Sunday evening speech that Russia's shelling of Kharkiv was persistent.

"This is nothing but deliberate terror: mortar attacks, artillery strikes against ordinary settlements, against ordinary civilians," he said, as reported by Al Jazeera.

Local officials said five people were killed and 20 others injured on Sunday (17/4), when a missile and artillery fire hit the city center and suburb of Saltivka.
