Senator 4×4 – Armored Rantis Transports Personnel That Canada Will Send To Ukraine

Canada is rumored to be the latest NATO member to send armored weapons to Ukraine. Quoted from nationalpost.com (11/4/2022), it is stated that Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has announced his country will provide an aid package worth US$500 million, of which the contents of the aid package consist of supplies of armored vehicles.

Still from the same source, it is very likely that Canada will send Roshel's Senator 4×4 armored personnel carrier. For information, Roshel is a Canadian company founded 10 years ago by Roman Shimonov, a board member of the Canada-Ukraine Chamber of Commerce.

At first glance, there is nothing too special about this type of Rantis Senator, considering that this type of Rantis has been made by many countries, including Indonesia. Even so, Roshel claims that the Senator 4×4 is characterized by high maneuverability, with a small turning radius making it an ideal choice for urban environments.

By adopting lightweight composite materials, Roshel guarantees the highest performance and mobility for this multi-mission vehicle platform. The body of the vehicle has been specially designed to incorporate advanced heat and noise insulation materials that provide an uncompromising level of comfort for the occupants.

The Senator's passenger compartment and engine bay perimeter guards are designed to provide protection up to CEN B7 ballistic protection level or capable of withstanding 7.62 mm caliber projectiles.

On its website, Roshel says all the materials used have been tested by internationally recognized North American and European laboratories to meet ballistic protection standards.

From the specifications, the Senator 4×4 is supported by a 6.7L Diesel V8 engine with 330 @ 2,600 rpm. This Rantis relies on a 6-speed automatic transmission. With a capacity of 12 passenger seats, the Senator 4×4 has dimensions of 5945 x 2340 x 2450 mm and a wheelbase of 3683 mm.

Indeed, Canada could supply a more suitable armored vehicle for Ukraine, namely the LAV-25 Coyote armored personnel carrier armed with the 25mm M242 Bushmaster cannon. This 8×8-powered Ranpur already has a reputation for combat in military operations in Afghanistan. But the news circulating, Canada is not ready to send the LAV-25 Coyote to Ukraine.
