Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reported that his country received assistance from France which is now moving towards its territory.
"A new day at the forefront of diplomacy begins with talks with [French President] @EmmanuelMacron," Zelensky tweeted in a statement Saturday.
"Weapons and equipment from our partners have moved towards Ukraine. The anti-war coalition is on its way!" he continued, without elaborating on his colleague's assistance.
Macron himself has not given an official statement about the French aid to Ukraine.
However, on Friday (25/2), Macron said France would speed up the deployment of its troops to strengthen NATO's eastern wing in Romania after Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
In addition, Zelensky also thanked Polish President Andrzej Duda for the country's assistance to Ukraine.
"I just spoke to a true friend of Ukraine, the President of Poland @AndrzejDuda. I am personally very grateful to him, to the Polish people, for the concrete and effective help they are providing at this difficult time," Zelensky said.
"Together, Ukraine and Poland will be stronger. Thank you."
Besides France, Poland is one of the countries sending military aid to Ukraine.
"A convoy of ammunition that we gave to Ukraine has reached our neighbor. We support Ukraine, show solidarity and resolutely oppose Russian aggression," Polish Defense Minister Mariusz Błaszczak said in a Twitter statement Saturday (26/2).
However, Blaszczak did not provide details regarding the type of ammunition or the amount of ammunition.
Military assistance is one of the things that Ukraine is waiting for at this time, given the increasing urgency of the movement of Russian troops to the capital city of Kiev.
Fighting began to creep into the streets of Kiev, prompting the Ukrainian Interior Ministry to warn the public to remain vigilant.
"Active fighting is taking place on the streets of our city. Please remain calm and as careful as possible!," the ministry said in a statement on their Facebook account, Saturday (26/2), quoted by CNN.
The ministry also advised residents to stay in refugee camps. However, if there are residents who are at home and the sound of the air siren is turned on, they are advised to immediately seek the nearest shelter.
The air siren itself is a sign of the emergence of an air attack.
