Indonesia is Claime to be King in the Air With the Rafale, F-15EX, and KF-21 Boramae Fighter Jets

Indonesia continues to improve its national defense by developing and acquiring modern fighter jets.

Currently, Indonesia is collaborating with South Korea (South Korea) for the procurement of the KF-21 Boramae fighter jet.

Quoted from Aerosociety, it is stated that the KF-21 Boramae is scheduled to conduct its first flight test in 2022.

The JoongAng also confirmed that the KF-21 Boramae made by South Korea and Indonesia will make its maiden flight in June 2022. The KF-21 Boramae shows significant progress.

"This year, we will begin full-scale test maneuvers for the KF-21. From the end of June, the full flight test will begin," wrote The JoongAng in its article.

Quoted from cavok.com.br, there are about 6 prototype units of the KF-21 Boramae which are in final assembly. The development of the KF-21 Boramae is proof that Indonesia can take part in creating a modern fighter jet that is so sophisticated.

In addition to expecting the KF-21 Boramae fighter jet, Indonesia also plans to acquire other modern fighter jets.

After leaving the Su-35, Indonesia has now legally owned the French Rafale fighter jet.

Quoted from Defense Security Asia, Indonesia has agreed to acquire six Rafale fighter jets developed by French aerospace company Dassault Aviation.

Indonesia plans to acquire 30 Rafale fighter jets in the future, bringing the total to 36 units.

Today, French Defense Minister Florence Parly is in Jakarta to finalize the procurement of Rafale aircraft.

The Rafale aircraft used by the Indonesian Air Force will be the first aircraft used in ASEAN airspace.

Indonesia will be the eighth country to use the Rafale fighter jet. Other countries that use Rafale fighter jets are the French Air Force, Qatar, Egypt, Greece, India, Croatia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Indonesia hopes to use the Rafale F3-R fighter jet for its air force.

The Rafale F3-R is a Rafale aircraft that was upgraded in 2014 by Dassault Aviation, Thales, MBDA, and Safran.

The upgrade involves software and hardware upgrades including the integration of Beyond Visual Range (BVR) air-to-air missiles and Sagem Armement Air-Sol Modulaire (AASM) air-to-ground missiles.

The Rafale F3-R fighter jet will also use the AESA RBE2 radar developed by Thales. The Rafale F3-R fighter jet will also use the Talios Targeting Pod, refueling pod and the Spektra electronic warfare system as well as the Automatic Ground Collision Avoidance System.

Indonesia did decide to buy the Rafale aircraft after canceling the purchase of the Sukhoi Su-35 (Flanker E) aircraft from Russia.

In addition to buying Rafale aircraft from France, Indonesia will also buy eight F-15EX aircraft. The F-15EX itself is the latest variant of the fighter jet from the United States (US).

Until now, Indonesia and the United States are still negotiating the sale of the F-15EX fighter jet.

Quoted from Antaranews.com, the Indonesian Air Force confirmed that it would buy 4.5 generation fighter jets, namely the French-made Dassault Rafale and the US F-15EX.

"We want a 4.5 generation jet and want a 'heavy' or medium and above. Because we currently have the F-16, we already have the Russian-made Sukhoi," said Air Force Chief of Staff (Kasau) Air Marshal Fadjar Prasetyo on Wednesday .

"This is also the result of thinking from the Ministry of Defense," he continued.

With the KF-21 Boramae, Rafale, F-15EX will make Indonesia the king in the air.

The presence of the three modern fighter jets will increase the strength of the Indonesian Air Force in maintaining the sovereignty of the NKRI airspace from enemy threats.

According to Fadjar, Defense Minister (Menhan) Prabowo Subianto has given an explanation to the Minister of National Development Planning/Head of Bappenas regarding the budget.

It was explained that the budget for the procurement of fighter jets to be used was up to 30 to 40 years into the future.
