Taiwan Angry, Chinese military sends 132 aircraft to Taiwan’s ADIZ


Nine chinese military aircraft entered taiwan's air defense identification zone ades on thursday jan 27 marking the 21st intrusion this month.

Six people's liberation army air force plouffe Shenyang J-16 fighter jets, two Shaanxi Y-8 anti-submarine warfare planes and one Chang CY-8 electronic warfare plane flew into the southwest corner of taiwan's ids, according to the ministry of national defence.

In response taiwan sent aircraft issued radio warnings and deployed air defense assets to track the plot planes.

ADIZ is an area that extends beyond a country's airspace where air traffic controllers ask incoming aircraft to identify themselves. China has sent planes into taiwan's identification zone every day this month except for on jan 3,9,16,21 ,22 and 26.

A total of 132 chinese planes have been tracked there so far in january including 96 fighter jets, three bombers and 33 spotter planes.

Since september 2020 china has increased gray zone tactics by routinely sending aircraft into taiwan's ADIZ with most occurrences taking place in the southwest corner. In 2021 chinese military planes entered taiwan's ids in 961 instances over 239 days, according to the MND.

Gray zone tactics are defined as an effort or series of efforts beyond steady-state deterrence in assurance that attempts to achieve one's security objectives without resort to direct incisable use of force.

In response taiwan sent aircraft issued radio warnings and deployed air defense assets to monitor the planes. An ADIZ is an area that extends beyond a country's airspace where air traffic controllers ask incoming aircraft to identify themselves.

The newest Chinese J-16D electronic warfare jet flew within taiwan's southwest air defense identification zone adis on monday. The J-16 is a newly designed electronic warfare aircraft that integrates the latest electronic attack technology. It is capable of disrupting deceiving or denying a broad range of military-electronic systems including radars and communications.

According to senior colonel shen jinki spokesperson for the people's liberation army pla air force the j minus 16d serves to further improve the plaf's electronic offensive capabilities and guarantee its expansion of the operational range in strategic transformation.

The newest electronic attack jet was developed in the 2010s and debuted last year at the zhuhai air show. according to taiwan's ministry of defence a pair of PLA's j-16d aircraft entered the adiz on the 24th of january along with j-16 multi-role fighters anti-submarine warfare aircraft on y-8 platform and two h-6k bombers.

13 PLA aircraft, J-16 Asterisk 8, Y-8ASW, H6 asterisk 2 and J-16D asterisk 2 entered taiwan's southwest ADIZ on january 24 2022, said a statement.

Taiwanese officials said that their responses to the PLA sorties included the scrambling of combat aircraft, the employment of air defense assets to further monitor the situation and the issuing of warning messages to the chinese aircraft via radio.
