The KF-21 Boramae will be an extraordinary project for Indonesia. No country in Southeast Asia dares to have a project like the KF-21 Boramae Indonesia.
Apart from being expensive, countries in the Southeast Asian region do not yet have the facilities and infrastructure at home to make a fighter jet equivalent to Indonesia's KF-21 Boramae. Indonesia itself has invested quite a lot in the KF-21 Boramae.
Just imagine that Indonesia has to spend quite a bit of Rp. 20 trillion to get technology and 48 units of KF-21 Boramae. Fortunately, Indonesia got a discount from Korea for KF-21 Boramae payments.
"Indonesia will see its payments reduced by 100 billion won ($85 million) to 1.6 trillion won for a joint fighter jet project with South Korea," quoted from The Korea Herald.
Indonesia itself will pay it in installments over 5 years starting in 2021 and partly using export commodities. Later in 2026 the payment is paid off and mass production of the KF-21 Boramae begins. There, Indonesia will just have to accept and build its own KF-21 Boramae.
"The Defense Acquisition Program Administration said Monday, a week after reaching a new agreement with Indonesia amid rumors of a Southeast Asian country default," wrote The Korea Herald.
"The KF-21 program - where Indonesia seeks 20 percent share and technological know-how while Korea holds the rest," he added.
Moreover, the KF-21 Boramae project is indeed important for Indonesia and South Korea. The KF-21 Boramae will be equipped with the Kaori X drone.
Quoted from shephardmedia.com, South Korea through the Agency for Defense Development (ADD) has made Kaori X. Kaori X's progress has reached 70 percent where she has also carried out flight trials.
Korean Air, which is part of this program, together with Inha University are working on anti-radar materials for Kaori X.
"Over the past 10 years, we have worked very hard in various sectors such as UAV design and manufacture, flight testing, and enhancement of stealth capabilities," Korean Air was quoted as saying by Aju Daily.
Moreover, DAPA will also equip the KF-21 Boramae with long-range stealth missiles.
"Long-range air-to-ground missiles are being developed with the aim of having superior stealth performance and a longer range than similar missiles in developed countries," South Korea's Defense Ministry was quoted as saying by Newsis.
"As a next-generation weapon system with precision strike capability against key strategic objectives, it is expected to be operational by the KF-21 in the future
Its superior performance and low cost compared to the Taurus will be a green light for exports," he added.
Because it is confirmed to fly in 2022, Indonesia seems to be getting serious about the KF-21 Boramae. Moreover, currently a ground test is being carried out on the KF-21 Boramae.
The pilots from the South Korean Air Force tried to directly climb into the cockpit of the KF-21 Boramae and explain what they felt.
"Korea Aerospace Diligence is accelerating the development of the prototype KF-21 Boramae, a Korean fighter aircraft that KAI is promoting as its unborn core business," theguru.co.kr reported.
"A pilot evaluation and injection performance test were carried out on Unit 3," he added.
"It is known that seven South Korean Air Force aviators took part in the evaluation, and we saw them there day and night," explained theguru.co.kr.
Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) expressed the opinion of the South Korean Air Force pilots after the KF-21 Boramae ground test. The cockpit shape of the KF-21 Boramae seems to be adjusted again.
"Opinions from pilots obtained through ground trials will go through general review and discussion to produce a more optimal shape of the KF-21 cockpit," said KAI.
In fact, the KF-21 Boramae Indonesia will fly for the first time in July 2022.
